Stretch/Warm-Up Before Exercise
As with any exercise or diet routine, please check with your doctor if you feel you need to do so.
Hi,
Start off your day by slowly stretching your way out of bed!  Begin with stretching out the fingers, rolling the wrists, then clasping your hands to your elbows, slowly raise your arms up over your head. Press your elbows and shoulders into your pillow while lifting your chest up and down.  Take deep breaths to bring in more oxygen. Repeat and release.

Pull your knees up to your chest, wiggle your toes and roll the ankles.  Roll knees from side to side to loosen up the hips.  Begin to bicycle the legs to get your circulation going, and turn to the side of the bed, bicycling to a sitting position.  Roll the head around your neck, shake it "yes" and "no".  Tuck your  chin into your neck and hold for a few seconds to "massage"  and stimulate your thyroid gland.

With feet in a wide stance (about two feet), place your hands on your knees. Bend forward, rocking  from side to side to open up the shoulders and spine.  When you are ready, move feet closer together and bend to touch your toes, slowly rising to a standing position.  As you walk, roll the shoulders back and forward.
Have a great day!

Anti-Inflammatory Fruit Salad

Hi Everyone,

As you know, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention!"  and such is the case with my "Anti-Inflammatory" Fruit Salad recipe.  Since I do lots of intense dancing, I do not want to rely on aspirin, etc. to relieve my sore muscles.  After doing some research on what foods help fight inflammation, this is what I came up with.  I have served it a few times and it is always a  big hit!

Anti-inflammatory Fruit Salad Recipe:

Cut up and mix together your choice of all or some of the following fresh foods:

Pineapple, papaya, pomegranates, red grapes, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries with basil, mint and parsley

Dressing:  Mix Equal parts (about 1/4 cup each) of the following:
Grape Seed Oil (or Olive Oil)
                Honey
                Strong cooled green tea

Add:

1 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger (I use Chinese ginger)

Shake and toss over the fruit mixture.  Add shaved dark, dark chocolate over the top and serve.

If you don't care for a particular ingredient or want to use more of one of the fruits or spices, you can make your own adjustments.  Serve and enjoy!
